A day in the life of a Paratrooper
Big thanks to the 3 Para’s boxing team from 3rdBattalion The Parachute Regiment for making me feel so welcome down at Merville Barracks in Colchester today (Wed 22 Oct).
It was an honour and a privilege to visit 3 PARA and experience a day in the life of a Paratrooper. To see how hard these guys train, both as soldiers and as boxers and learn about what they do for this country is an inspiration to me.
The 3 Para’s boxing team visited me down at my gym last year while they were training for the Army title and we trained and sparred on my turf.
Today at the barracks they returned the favour and as well as boxing training we had a boxing skills sesh and saw some first class talent in the ring!
Then some different training … I took part in a log race with 3 PARA’s boxers to get an insight into military fitness – credit to them all – tough guys and tough regime!
I watched them as they practised their core infantry skills and then took part in the ground training for parachuting myself. They took me through some fire arms training and all round it was a brilliant day.
Good luck to all of them as they train for the Army Major Units Boxing Championship 2015 – not that they need it with their winning record and the training they’re putting in!
