THE SUN - Gavin Glicksman's interview with me below (dated 22nd March 15):
James DeGale believes Andre Dirrell is running scared ahead of their collision for the vacant IBF world title.
Super-middleweight DeGale had hoped to face Dirrell on British soil after the bout went to purse bids.
But with Eddie Hearn's offer of $2.1million blown out of the water by a staggering $3.1m from Team Dirrell, Chunky has been left playing a waiting game while a date and venue is finalised.
IN the Diamond Suite at Emirates Stadium, where membership costs upwards of £30,000 a season to watch Arsenal, Gunners fan James DeGale confirmed his November 28 IBF super-middleweight title defence against Lucian Bute. The contest will take place at the Videotron Centre – a new arena – in Quebec City, where the former champion will enjoy home advantage.
“You can see what kind of man I am I’m going to Canada to give Lucian Bute a chance to box for my world title,” said DeGale. “The way I’m feeling, I’m in top shape, it’s going to be hard to beat me. My journey is just starting, his is coming to an end.
Busy week ahead!
As well as hearing the final details from Dirrell's camp about the IBF fight date and location, I'm continuing my fight camp all week at The Perform Centre at St George's Park up in Burton-on-Trent.
I've been up there before for a fitness assessment which included tests aimed to pinpoint any areas that could be tweaked ahead of my next fight.
Really enjoyed the charity boxing event hosted by Parx Boxing in aid of the Russ Dawkins Back on Track Foundation.
16 novices underwent 3 months of gruelling prep and then went on to slug it out in the ring for 3 x 2 minute rounds which was great to watch.
I was honoured to meet Russ and delighted that all proceeds from the evening would go to the Russ Dawkins Back on Track Foundation.
